Veneers
What are dental veneers?
Dental veneers are carefully crafted custom-made facings that are permanently bonded to the front of your teeth, and can be used to correct a number of different concerns or issues that a patient might have such as:
Call Us:
Stained teeth
Chipped teeth
To close gaps in your teeth
Correction of crooked teeth (minor)
Teeth that are worn down
Teeth that have suffered thinning enamel
Veneers can either be indirect, crafted by one of our master ceramicists, or direct, hand crafted by one of our dentists at Glenroy Dental Group. Indirect veneers are made from ceramic or porcelain, and direct veneers are made from composite resin. Both methods enhance a tooth’s colour and shape while providing an effective solution to the patient concerns listed above.
Veneers can be fitted over any number of teeth; however, most patients opt for veneers that are fitted over the front 4, 6 or 8 teeth. Some people opt to have them placed on their upper teeth only, but depending on what is visible in your smile, a lot of patients also choose to have the lower teeth veneered as well.
Think of a veneer as a similar concept as a false fingernail. To allow us to fabricate a veneer, we need to create space for the thin veneers to fit over your natural teeth, Firstly, we meticulously prepare your tooth, removing a very thin outer layer of the tooth. The veneer is precisely fitted resulting in a very natural restoration with a seamless transition to the gum line.

Frequently
Asked questions
How long will I need to wait for my veneers?
Veneers can be completed in as little as two visits over the course of approximately two weeks. After determining your suitability and creating a customised plan for you, you will be ready for your dental veneer treatment. If you opt for direct composite veneers, you should be able to have them done in one appointment!
Will other people know I have had veneers done?
That all depends on you! If you decide to tell people then absolutely! If you opt for a more subtle option, other people may compliment you on how you look, but they probably won’t be able to exactly figure out why you are looking so great! If you opt for a Hollywood smile, you can bet you will be in for some very ecstatic compliments from friends and family!
Is veneer treatment right for all patients?
The majority of people are well suited to having veneers. When you consult with one of our experienced dentists at Glenroy Dental Group, they will present you will all your options, and advise you what treatment is best for you.
What is better for me, indirect ceramic or porcelain veneers, or direct composite veneers?
Porcelain vs. Composite Veneers: Hand crafted composite resin veneers are a cost-effective solution for a short to medium term result. The results can be very good, but not as natural, precise and brilliant as porcelain or ceramic which offers the best-looking results. This is because composite resin is applied directly onto the teeth, rather than a model, with fewer colours/shades available.
How much does veneer treatment cost?
The cost of veneers varies for each patient, depending on individual circumstances; however, we will guide you through the treatment options and your payment options. We offer discounts and flexible payment plans to suit your needs. For more information, speak to one of our friendly treatment coordinators.
How do I care for my veneers?
Your dentist will advise you to exactly how to care for your veneers when you have them cemented. Veneers are not difficult to take care of, a lot of the care for veneers is no different to looking after your natural teeth!
- Brush at least twice a day, using the right toothbrush
- Floss daily
- Use an appropriate toothpaste
- Use an appropriate mouthwash
- Watch what you eat and drink
- Resist the urge to use your teeth as tools, don’t open packets etc. using your teeth
How long do veneers last?
On average, dental veneers can last for around 5 to 10 years before they will need to be replaced. Many can last longer, depending on how well the mouth is cared for, how much someone clenches and grinds their jaw and other habits. However, if you experience a chip or crack you should visit your dentist straight away.
